Changelog

Release notes for Smarter Files — what's new, improved, and fixed in each version.

0.8.0 — August 2026

A major upgrade to the file list: bulk actions, a configurable table view, per-row shortcuts, and first-class support for Email-to-Case attachments.

New

  • Bulk selection, download, and delete — select files with checkboxes (or select all) and act on the whole selection at once. Downloads arrive as a single ZIP; bulk delete asks for confirmation and reports per-file results.
  • Table view with configurable columns — a related-list-style table with Owner, Related Record, Size, Created, and Last Modified columns. Show, hide, and sort by any column; your column setup is remembered per browser and object.
  • Per-row quick actions — download and delete a file straight from its row, plus the full action menu (view details, edit, public link, visibility controls) without leaving the list.
  • Email-to-Case attachments on Cases — files attached to a Case’s email messages now appear in the list, matching the standard Salesforce Files related list. Controlled by the new Include Email Files on Cases component setting (on by default).
  • Email attachment indicator — files that arrived through Email-to-Case are marked with an envelope icon next to the date. Hovering reveals a Go to message link that opens the source email.

Improved

  • Related Record column shows the email source — for email attachments, the column displays the subject of the email the file arrived with, so attachments are easy to tell apart.
  • View switcher — flip between list, table, and tile views from the toolbar; selection and actions work the same in every view.
  • Responsive table view — in narrow page regions (like a sidebar) the table automatically collapses secondary columns so names and dates stay readable, and row action menus overlay the page instead of being clipped.

Notes

  • Isolated mode unchanged — the visibility model is untouched; email attachments are intentionally not included in Isolated storage mode.
  • No Email-to-Case requirement — the package installs on orgs without Email-to-Case; the email-attachment features simply stay inactive there.

0.7.5 / 0.7.6 — May 2026

  • Fixed — uploading files in Isolated mode no longer fails for users without the categories permission set.
  • Security — personal sharing records are now revoked when a file’s visibility is narrowed, so users who lose visibility also lose native file access.

0.7.4 — May 2026
